Local Business Expands Despite Economy

Car Parts Machine & Engine Supply, located at 1420 Texas Avenue, has been in business in El Paso since 1920. The business builds engines for racing, as well as industrial applications such as construction and farm equipment. The owners, Ryan and Greg Stafford, say that while the recession has had a negative effect on business, they are going ahead with an expansion project that has been planned for sometime.

“We have wanted to build a retail store for some time. It only makes sense that our customers be able to buy the parts they need from us. We have done a lot of price comparisons so we know what we are offering is competitive.” said Ryan Stafford. The store, which officially opens this month, has a selection of parts for racing and industrial engines. 

“Car Parts got started in the parts business in 1920, and at one time had about 20 stores all over the southwest, so maybe we are coming full circle.” said Ryan Stafford.  “This is a challenging time, but we feel that El Paso is still a good place to do business.” said Karen Stafford, Ryan and Greg’s mother who works with them. 

The store will have several classic car related grand opening events, including “cruise-ins” on August 22^nd and September 5^th at 6pm. There will be free food and drinks, and the public is welcome to attend and check out the cars. For information, call (915) 532-3475.
